Who are the Southern Baptist Convention's Top Shepherds?
We hear a lot about the convention's top preachers (CEOs) and their large megachurches. I would like to know who you think are the convention's best shepherds of men and women?

(For those of you who don't recongnize the people in the picture, those are Drs. Shepherd from ABC's Grey's Anatomy. It comes on after church on Sunday night at 9:00 p.m. CST.)

I'm a homer, that's for sure, so I'll throw out a name for consideration. After 5 years of sitting under his teaching at seminary and at church, and with personal interaction with him in his home and on his staff, I think one would be hard-pressed to find anyone better than Dr. Jim Shaddix. He is currently the senior pastor of Riverside Baptist Church, a downtown church in Denver, CO.

He's not much into politics, nor the overall Southern Baptist Convention. But he's got a heart to preach and teach the Bible, to share the gospel with all the world, and to model a Christ-like life to all.

I'm sure others are more popular or well-known than Dr. Shaddix, but none are any better in my opinion.

    Blessings.

If you are looking at a shepherd you have to think about discipleship and the training up of Christians that are sent out. I know of one in Oklahoma and anther in Colorado one is Doyle Pryor in Sapulpa,Ok and Mike Story in Colorado by the way Mike Discipled Doyle and a guy buy the name Max Barrnet dicsipled Mike it's a pyramid scheme and it takes time but it is well worth it. There are some of the big name guys that do this only they pick those who are ether going to be ministers or are going to be involved in the church as a occupation it is not the same as bring up a cattle man in the strength and admonition of the Lord. One of the best pieces of advice when I started in the ministry was to get a guy and get one on one and help them in doing the same I now have 2 guys and am working on the other one that I have went though it with already to take at least one guy. My wife is doing the same and we are growing slowly but they are consistent they are in church and are part of the church. It makes a difference in the long term.
