Facts on the FIRE TRUCK BAPTISTERY

(Source note: This information came from one with knowledge of the inner workings of First Church Springdale's children's ministry.)

The baptistery is very small it is behind this cut out of the small fire truck. The actual size of the baptistery is close to that of a bath tube. The confetti cannons are at the top of the firehouse.

Of the 70 plus children that have been baptized thus far in 2006, only three have been baptized in the children's area, where this little fire truck resides. The other children have been baptized in the sanctuary, as is the normal practice.

Of the three who were baptized in the children's area, their parents were present, and were counseled just like the other children. My source says the confetti cannons haven’t been fired during a baptism in a while.

It is important to note, that a new children's area will open June 4th and it does not have a baptismal. If anyone has any more information about this subject, let us know.

One has to wonder if the children baptized could become IMB missionaries in the future, or if they would have to be rebaptized in the church's sanctuary?

At what point did the SBC get so legalistic? Why must one be baptised in the baptistry in the church sancuary? How many of our parents/grandparents/selves have been baptized in a river or some other location? What about those brothers/sisters who were baptized in a baptist church which believes the same way, but is not affiliated with the SBC (for example the American Baptist Association)? Do all of these people need to be re-baptized because it is not the current "blessed" way that people think baptism should be done?
