    Observations after lunch

I am watching Ronnie Floyd's Winners on Daystar. -- what revealing broadcast. What is a "Biblical Life Coach?"

Well, Coach Floyd has a really nice church with fancy gagets. I can't help but wonder if those flat panel plasma screens surrounded by ornate picture frames are really necessary. I'm sure they could up their percentage of funds given to the Cooperative Programs if they would auction off a couple of those screens on Ebay:)

Let's see, I've seen an ad for Coach Floyd's new book that "blows the cover off " the Da Vinci Code and then there was his series on "How to Live a Profitable Life Without Taking Risks." This all really seems over the top. I know Coach Floyd is a fine man and has been called by God to preach, but this election for President is about our personal preferences as Baptists. This is not a at jab his character, but he is not my style.

My style is a humble pastor. I'm sure my other cohorts would agree with me; glitz and glamour are great for Esquire Magazine but not for the SBC.

I will watch Coach Floyd again tomorrow, maybe the sushi I ate at lunch affected my perspective.

Now Dr. Robert Jeffress program is now on television.

Hey guys- I've tried to stay away from your blog, but I just couldn't help myself. John MacArthur list on his DVD series on, "Does the Truth Matter Anymore?" a list of things that you know that your church is practicing pragmatism by having big screen TV's in their sanctuary. I am a past member of First Baptist Springdale. I once had a couple leave my Sunday School class at FBC Springdale and join a Bible Church because a large screen covered a beautiful stain glassed picture of Jesus. They just couldn't get over the fact that the picture of Jesus had been obscurred up a picture of Ronnie Floyd. Imagine that? Your friend in Springdale

Why would you stay away from this blog? Shame on you:) We have no problem with screens. Johnny Mac maybe be being a little legalist here. Technology can serve a purpose, but we think being over-the-top by being personality focuesed is too much.

Video screens don't bother me. I just believe it's part of a "style" of worship. But I do have a serious problem with gimmickry to reach souls for Christ. I see nothing wrong with decorating a Sunday School class to make it more "kid friendly", but I've known pastors who will swallow live goldfish as a result of a big number goal. I don't think Jesus would approve of such measures.

All I know is that in over 10 years of attending FBC-Springdale and several months of Pinnacle Hills I've seen lives people saved and lives changed--not just from afar, but people I actually knew personally. And it the vast majority of cases, it wasn't "gimmickry" or screens or stained glass windows that got them there; it was the members loving on people as God has called them to do. Dr Floyd continually reminds us of that. And I've never had a better pastor (and I've had a lot of 'em in some little bitty churches!).

I'm used to other churches in the NWA area criticizing my church but honestly, it kinda ticks me off getting critcism on fellow SBCer websites! (Had to vent!)

My life was changed at Springdale First Baptist too! I learned to tithe there. Had to move on when I started studying the Bible.

KJA talks about the love shown at FBC Springdale. I know for a fact that many, including, the pastor are snobby and arrogant. EVERYTIME I've ever seen Ronnie Floyd in public, (and I mean everytime), he doesn't say a word to me. I've seen him in restaurants, stores, and even movie theatres and he ignores me, even when I say hello. It's the ultimate conceit and arrogance. Don't talk to me about love. That's not the love MY Lord articulates.

ARB- You've joked about many things concerning Ronnie Floyd's television program. I too watched one of his programs that was filled with advertising of his CD tapes and self promotion. I will concede to you in saying that his program was mostly about him. Especially in the beginning when he's jogging. Which honestly bothered me a little. I could see how one would think that his television air time could be used more effectively in sharing God's word. Besides that, if these things are true, why do you think so many people in his church put up with this behavior? And why do you think so many SBC big-shots are fooled? If in fact they are! And isn't this the business of Springdale First Baptist Church only? Waiting patiently for your reply.

    ((They aren't, Ronnie is.))

And isn't this the business of Springdale First Baptist Church only?
((There are other mega-churches, with high profile preachers.))

My wife grew up at FBC, Springdale, we were married there (NOT by Coach Floyd), two of our children were born while members there, I was on the volunteer staff there for several years. I was there when "Dr. Floyd" came to be the pastor. It was a sad day for Christendom.

We finally left in disgust and with great sorrow - on opening day of the new "Worship Center" (before RF we we going to call it an "auditorium"), my wife, who attended the service, came home and said, "The church I grew up in is gone." And she wept, as did I.

No one would know who Ronnie Floyd IS if hadn't been for the previous pastor, and I'd be unafraid to guess that most of Floyd's Followers don't even know his name! Of course, this is as it should be, for the church - IN THOSE DAYS - was not built on a man: it was built on the Holy Word of God!

Go back and look at the records - look at the REAL miracle of what happened at FBC, Springdale, and you will see that all of the pomp, ceremony, and Floyd-worship of today - including the moving plasma panels and the three-screen "talking head" - pales in comparison to what GOD did during the years from 1970 to 1986!

We did not worship our pastor during the years of his pastorate there, when the church grew from barely 150 in Sunday School to 2,500 EACH WEEK, and all of them were actually in the buildings in SS!) - he wouldn't have let us if we tried - what happened was REAL REVIVAL broke out - and it didn't have to be "ginned up" like they have to now.

All-in-all, it's all about Ronnie Floyd. Everything now at FBC, S'dale is. The TV programs, the books, the music ministry, his run for the SBC Presidency - you name it, and it's all about Ronnie and what it takes to make YOU think Ronnie Floyd is the greatest Christian/pastor/"life coach"/saint of God in all of church history.

But would you like find out what Ronnie Floyd is REALLY all about?

Would you like to know why 1,000's and 1,000's of people who USED to be members of FBC, S'dale before he came there LEFT?

Wanna know what he REALLY thinks about church life?

Wanna know how he LIED to us about his seminary training?

If you do, then go, as I have, to the Library at Southwestern Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth and READ his doctoral dissertation!

HE told us that his dissertation was "on church growth", and we innocently believed him!

It's NOT about church growth - it's about getting MONEY out of people in the church!

If you doubt this, go read it for yourself!

He believes that ALL church problems are directly related to a wrong attitude on the part of the people towards giving money! SO - the answer to the problems a church has is to get people to give more money!

But how do you reconcile that hypothesis when you walk into a church to be it's pastor, and the church is DEBT-FREE, has $3.5 million saved in the bank towards it's new auditorium, and you begin to have problems because people are leaving saying you - the new pastor - do not really believe the Bible nor practice nor teach it (among other things that people left for: most notably the persecution he surreptitiously aimed at his detractors)?

    What DO you do?

Easy: YOU PUT THE CHURCH INTO DEBT TO THE TUNE OF 7 MILLION DOLLARS!

I could go on and on and on - from all of that nonsense to the multiple times he's tried to get out of Springdale (three times alone he campaigned for the pastorate of FBC, Dallas - boy, if he ever ended up THERE, it would be horrible! Talk about weapons of mass destruction!)

In the end, it's just as I said - the whole world revolves around Ronnie Folyd.

It's all about Ronnie Floyd and what he can do to bilk YOU out of money so that HE can look good!

THANKS BE TO GOD HE DIDN'T GET ELECTED TO THE PRESIDENCY OF THE SBC!!!!

If he had, you would have seen happen to the SBC what happened to FBC, Springdale: the denomination would cease to have as it's focal point the WORD OF GOD, and that focus would be redirected onto the incomparable Ronnie Floyd!

Beloved, we are, indeed, living in the Laodicean era of church history, but it's not quite like we imagined: I was taught and used to believe that, right before the rapture, the "great falling away" would mean "empty churches".

NOW I know that it will NOT be empty buildings, but buildings filled with EMPTY PEOPLE!

One more thing - those who are deluded by this charlatan will call all those who dare to point him out as such with various perjoratives, but be not deceived -

    JESUS (not Ronnie Floyd) said:

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves" (Matthew 7:15).
