Editorial note: Please don't project any anger into our words.
For all you people -- you know who you are, you visit our blog often -- who said that Wade Burleson allowing his name to be submitted in nomination for the SBC presidency was just the capstone to a grand political scheme that began with his questioning of the IMB policies last year: SHAME ON YOU! SHAME ON YOU! SHAME ON YOU!
His most recent post from his blog reinforces the fact that he has always stood on principle and is not a political player.
We knew very little about Wade Burleson last year. A friend pointed us to his blog in December. After reading his straightforward and thoughtful commentaries, we appreciated his heart and began to agree with his positions on the IMB policies and his concern for the SBC.
At the same time, we also began listening to his sermons, most of which are online. (We recommend starting with Romans) For months, we have spent numerous early morning hours listening to Wade, growing spiritually while sitting under his preaching and teaching via laptop. We would be hard-pressed to find a more genuine and heartfelt expositor of the word of God in our convention today.
We have grown to love our brother in Christ. We stand with him and support his efforts to insure that the SBC is an open and transparent organization, comprised of diverse people who are unified behind the convention’s cooperative efforts to expand the Kingdom.
Wade's leadership, much of which at times has come out one blog post at a time, has helped to inspire others to dream big for the SBC. We are all indebted to him for his gracious leadership. (Some of you don't realize it yet, but you will:)
