GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - The surprise pick for president of the Southern Baptist Convention says he'll stand up for the denomination's conservative beliefs — but he'll do it with a smile. "I believe in the Word of God," says the Rev. Frank Page. "I'm just not mad about it."

Ya'll are awesome! I love it!
As one who was at FBC, Springdale when Ronnie Floyd lied his way into the pastorate there, I just don't buy the idea that his failure to become SBC President is some sort of referendum on the traditional/conservative/Bible-believing SBC trend.
I'm sorry, but the reason Ronnie Floyd didn't get elected was NOT because of the CP giving of FBC, Springdale, nor was it because there is some kind of rejection of the "conservative resurgence" in the SBC.
The vote was not so much a vote FOR Frank Page as it was a vote AGAINST Ronnie Floyd.
He didn't get elected because he is such a charlatan and a phony that NORMAL Southern Baptists didn't want to elect him to be their "Spiritual Life Coach", even though he's already appointed himself as such!
The messengers rejected RF's arrogant self-promotion, and rightly so!
Anonymous,
There were three candidates. Ronnie Floyd is not a bad guy, he could have helped himself out if he had actually done and interview or two.
We like what we see out of Frank Page. His is a tough task and he is off to a good start.
