    Gay Christian: Lance Bass
Lance Bass: 'I'm Gay' | Lance Bass

He was "The Shy One." And during the bubblegum pop craze that began in the late '90s, Lance Bass – along with his 'N Sync bandmates Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake – was a pinup boy for millions of adoring fans. But as the group rode the boy band wave – their 2000 smash, No Strings Attached, sold a record-breaking 2.4 million copies in its first week – the Mississippi-bred, Southern Baptist-reared Bass felt burdened by hiding the truth he says he has known "from childhood on": He's gay.

    From a recent interview:

Q:Did your mom ask you if you would still go to church?

A:Yeah, definitely. And I still go to church. I'm still Christian. I was not raised in a Christian church to hate people. I was taught to love people and accept people. I know what I believe.

No, I think it is just Lance. This is troubling on so many fronts. He was part of the world's most famous boy bands, which was adored by girls (and probably some boys)world-wide.

We have had friends who have been sucked in by the scorge of homosexuality; just because they were weak at a particular time in their lives and that sin to took root.

We have read recent stories about how bi-sexuality among males is a growing trend in teenage life. In fact, girls supposedly find that type of behavior attractive -- I know it sounds crazy.

Our concern is not that the culture is going down hill -- we live in a sinful world. Our concern is for the numerous lives that will be destroyed because at a moment of weakness and confusion, they have more ammunition to justify this particular sin.

Homosexuality isn't about sex-it is about bad relationships. I really feel for him. The church needs to do a better job reaching people where they are and bringing them to where God wants them to be.

I am constantly disappointed at the attitude SBCers have formed towards homosexuals. It troubles me that we seem to give the "gay jokes" a free pass.

It's as if there is a line we can't cross when it comes to joking, but calling a fellow minister a "fag" is on the safe side of that line. I'll be the first to say that I have done it, but a months ago I was approached by one of my closest friends, who pointed it out to me. His take was that I was so uncomfortable with that lifestyle that I felt a need to bash it. I have to say that at first I told him he was dead wrong, and that it was just a way for me to cut someone down. Then I saw what he really meant:

When will we, as ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, be so uncomfortable with the gay agenda that we truly begin to minister to this group of lost souls, rather than use their sin to throw foam rubber stones at one another in jest?
