I've posted what I think is an inconsistency as far as honoring those SBCer's from times past. Certain theologys are not merely disagreed with, but misrepresented and worse.
I haven't watched the Joshua Convergence but let me see if I understand Jeff Crook correctly in this short clip. If we don’t honor and give gratitude to these people, I think he is referring to the leaders of the conservative resurgence, then we are ignorant and something else that I didn’t understand. Also we are responsible for keeping Holy Ghost revival from coming to our convention because of the lack of honor we pay these men. In other words the Holy Ghost can only perform His ministry in areas where the leaders of the conservative resurgence are honored.
Who are these converging Joshua guys? I have never heard of any of them except for Brad Reynolds whose name I have seen on the blogs. Who proclaimed them young leaders? Is Jeff Crook an example of the type of theologian and young leader the resurgence is giving us? We are in big trouble. Were any of them around during the 70s and early 80s when Crook says the battle lines were being drawn? During the 70s I was at Southwestern Seminary where I was being taught by theologically conservative professors who didn’t hesitate to testify to authority of God’s Word. That however, didn’t keep the men Crook wants to honor from slandering and attacking them and the seminary. I was also being appointed to the FMB during the 70s by conservative trustees and administrators and allowed to work alongside theologically conservative missionaries who devoted their life to taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who have not heard. This was while the men Crook wants to honor were building their own earthly kingdoms by attacking and slandering anyone who stood in the way of their political activities or did not help them inflate their egos.
In Arkansas many of these men were located in Northwest Arkansas where they would meet and decide who would get to represent Arkansas on the national trustee boards based on their obedience to the resurgence. They then would let the SBC presidents know who to appoint from Arkansas. They would regularly send letters out to the faithful announcing who their annointed candidates were for office in Arkansas. Anyone not on their list was labeled a liberal or moderate.
No, I do not honor and show gratitude to these men for leading us away from the authority of Scripture to the authority of men. I am proud to say I support any effort to keep our convention conservative theologically, but I have never for one second supported the pseudo-conservative resurgence and especially its Arkansas chapter.
Yes I am LIBERAL - liberal in loving, giving, understanding, study of God's Word, sympathy/empathy and prayer.....but liberal in theology? NOT A CHANCE!!
um, who needs to repent of arrogance? People who want Christians to behave with moderation and self-control, or people who compare their work -- however politically good and useful it was -- to God's work in laying down the foundations of the world?
Wow. I thought I was about over this stuff, but I'm ready to come back from my fishing trip with a hammer in one hand and Bible in the other.

Hooray for Ron West telling it like it is. What he says is the TRUTH, especially regarding the
"resurgence" leaders in northwest Arkansas.
Ron West and Billie Sharp are liberal Baptists in Arkansas.
VFD is confused -- Ron West is an IMB career missionary serving in the far east.

I also wanted to say that johnMark's wife is way too pretty for him.
By like a factor of 7. I had a supernatural experience with Acts chapter 8 that told me so.
