Head on over to Burleson Central Station and read about the letter he received from a SWBTS student, who referenced Dr. SiegfriedSchatzmann's writings concerning a private prayer language.

Cry Me a River Mr. Clinton

We don't like to wade to deeply into partisan politics, but we have been amazed by the outcry from Democrats who are upset by ABC's imminent release of the mini-series "The Path to 9/11." Former president Clinton has "demanded" that the network "pull the drama" if changes aren't made.

    Changes...why are changes needed?

Well it appears that Clinton, and many who served in his administration, do not like the program's portrayal of the administration's lack of emphasis it placed on terrorism.

    Read here, here, and here.

Associated Press' review of the mini-series states:

Then "The Path to 9/11" leaves the viewer with a chilling coda: a recap of the "report card" issued last December by the 9/11 Commission, which accused the government of failing to protect the nation against another attack, and assigned failing grades in five areas, with a dozen Ds and just one A (actually, A-minus).

That might be the more valuable focus of your concern as clashing voices from the blogosphere embrace or decry "The Path to 9/11" as a right-wing portrayal that slams President Clinton more than George W. Bush.

Whatever its flaws may or may not be, "The Path to 9/11" makes clear there's ample blame to go around. But for those who are game to take a break from finger-pointing, it also displays, with awful power, the larger truth that unites nearly everyone - yet still is given short shrift by policy makers.

It appears that no one on the Democrat-side of the isle can accept that they might bear some responsibility for the 9/11 attacks. Well it is a political year and despite the Republicans tone deafness on so many fronts, the Democrats have nothing to offer, except crying to television executives.

Thanks to Robert Parham for including us in his story about bloggers and the One Campaign.

Baptist Bloggers Can Help Make Poverty History
    Robert Parham

The One Campaign is a celebrity-centered effort to get the United States to allocate an additional 1 percent of the federal budget to fighting global poverty and AIDS, approximately $25 billion.

It has captured the imagination and backing of younger Americans, many of whom find moral affinity with Bono, who helped launch the One Campaign to rally American to a noble cause. Joining Bono and U2 are a Hollywood-studded cast of hundreds—Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Danny Glover, Jars of Clay, Dave Matthews.

The campaign wants to halve global poverty by 2015, one the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals. Its strategy includes international debt cancellation, fairer trade and better governments.

Our friend Kevin from Manila sent us this article from the Chicago Sun-Times. Thanks Kev, the head Razorbaptist is known to push out his pleats way too much.

Weighty matter: Is religion making us fat?

Back in the decadent early 1980s, New Wave rocker Adam Ant mocked clean living in his maddeningly catchy song, "Goody Two Shoes."

"Don't drink, don't smoke, what do ya do?" Ant taunted.

A new Purdue University study may hold the answer to Ant's question.

If they don't drink and don't smoke, what do they do?

    Eat, apparently.

"America is becoming known as a nation of gluttony and obesity, and churches are a feeding ground for this problem," says Ken Ferraro, a Purdue sociology professor who studied more than 2,500 adults over a span of eight years looking at the correlation between their religious behavior and their body mass index.

"If religious leaders and organizations neglect this issue, they will contribute to an epidemic that will cost the health-care system millions of dollars and reduce the quality of life for many parishioners," he says.

Our hearts and prayers go out to those at Emmanuel Baptist in Enid, for the loss of the four lives earlier this week. We have been part of churches that have suffered through tragic losses like this. It is our prayer that the Lord will pour his grace out on the families and their extended family at the church. The truth is when there is pain in the body of Christ, we all hurt. We pray for Wade and the entire group of ministers that the Lord would use them to minister to hurt that must surge in the hearts of some many in that community.

We're back...no we weren't so embarrassed by Arkansas' loss to USC that we decided to hide. We needed a few days off to take care of a few unrelated matters.
